Petrified palmwood is simply agatized wood from a tree that fell centuries ago in bogs, absorbed minerals, and petrified into stone. Depending on how the piece is cut, you can get a striped stone if sliced lengthwise or a dotted stone in a crosscut. It can take on dark hues or be a lighter piece like this one. Lovely material and polishes to a high shine.
I've cut and polished this piece and bezel set it in sterling silver, given it an interesting edge, and added two hammered sterling silver circles for movement. This gorgeous necklace layers well with others since it's a neutral stone.
